What is San Isidro festivals (weekday of the cycle)

Isidore (Madrid, c. 1080–1130) was a farm labourer canonised in 1622 and became patron of Madrid and of Spanish farmers. His 15 May memorial historically recalls the translation of his body; in rural Andalusia the feast usually mixes Mass, procession, blessing of the fields, pilgrimage, decorated floats and evening verbena.

When the 15th falls mid-week or a multi-day fair is planned, the town hall may make another day of the cycle non-working — the “weekday” published in the bulletin. In 2026 that weekday is 18 May in municipalities such as Benamocarra, Lopera, Pedro Abad, Sierra de Yeguas and Villablanca.

It does not replace the liturgical feast of the 15th or Madrid’s famous Isidore celebrations: it is the dataset label for the Andalusian patronal cycle’s labour holiday. Each municipal page keeps the official date and source.
